The Compendium for Over & Under Sea Water Materials Resistance is a research initiative to systematically classify and synthesize literature on materials exposed to seawater — both above the waterline and submerged.

Instead of ad-hoc keyword searches, the project uses a binary facet taxonomy: every paper is mapped to the intersection of an entity type (what material or system) and a response dimension (what property is measured). This creates a 6 × 6 matrix that guides literature harvesting, screening, and synthesis.

The workflow is powered by Claudito, an open-source research assistant that automates search across 466 academic databases, tracks references in a subject-tree, auto-screens papers, and manages authorship and versioning.
